On Prune Hill and around Grass Valley, driveways are big, mostly poured between 1995 and 2015, and generally sound under the stains. Downtown Camas is different: the older mill-town houses near Crown Park have short, narrow driveways from an era when reinforcing steel was optional, and some have settled. Yes, if the pitting is surface damage and the slab underneath is solid. We grind off the loose material, patch the deeper pits, and overlay the whole driveway so it reads as one surface. The new material is deicer resistant, so a salted ice day in January will not start the pitting again.

My driveway slopes down to the street. Will a coating be slick?

Not ours. The final coat gets a broadcast of fine aggregate that gives wet shoes and tires something to grip. On steeper Prune Hill driveways we can go a little heavier on the grit. It feels like fine sandpaper rather than a glossy floor, which is exactly what you want outside.

What temperature do you need to coat a driveway near Lacamas Lake?

We want the slab and the air above roughly 50 degrees and rising, with no rain in the forecast for the first day. Around the lake that usually rules out December through February. Spring through early fall is the working window, and we book those months early.

Can you coat only the part of the driveway that looks bad?

You can, but the new section will not match the old concrete beside it, and on a big Camas apron that line is obvious. Most people end up coating the whole thing. If budget is the issue, sealing the good part and overlaying the damaged part is a reasonable middle ground.

What else should I compare between Camas driveway bids?
