Castle Rock, WA Epoxy Flake Floors for Shops, Barns and Garages

Out past Silver Lake the floor that matters is usually under a tractor or an RV. That is the floor we came up here to coat.

A pole barn slab in Castle Rock does real work. It carries a pickup that just came off a gravel lane, a side-by-side caked in mud from the hills, and maybe a fifth-wheel parked for the winter. Bare broom-finished concrete takes all of that and turns it into dust, stains and a floor nobody wants to sweep. A full-broadcast flake system gives that slab a hard, textured skin that sheds grit and cleans with a push broom and a hose.

We want more floors in this town, plain and simple. The acreage out toward Toutle and along the Spirit Lake Highway corridor is full of shops, RV bays and barns that were poured by the owner on a weekend and never sealed. Those are the floors a coating crew should be fighting over, and from our Vancouver shop it is about 50 minutes north on I-5 to exit 49. We make that run gladly.

Why a Flake System Earns Its Keep on a Working Floor

Owner-poured slabs are rarely flat, and that is fine for flake. The chips are broadcast until the wet epoxy will not take another one, so small dips and trowel marks disappear under the color. Metallic would show every wave. Flake hides them and adds grip, which matters when the floor is wet from a truck that just rolled in out of river fog.

Underneath is 100% solids epoxy pushed into a diamond-ground surface, never acid etched. On top goes a polyaspartic coat that stays clear in sunlight from an open bay door and shrugs off hot tires. Total build is 30 to 40 mils. Most jobs take a day or two, foot traffic resumes the following morning, and vehicles come back in at 24 to 48 hours. Fifteen-year warranty.

Broom Finishes, River Fog and Gravel Lanes in Castle Rock

Castle Rock runs wetter and a few degrees colder than Vancouver, and the Cowlitz River throws fog over town on a lot of mornings. That slows cure, so in shops we ask for some heat and hold off parking for two full days. Broom finishes get ground hard to open the surface. In Downtown Castle Rock the garages are mostly older single-car slabs, often with old paint or oil we grind off first. Gravel driveways drag grit inside all year, and a textured flake floor handles that grit far better than bare concrete.

What a Flake Floor Costs for a Castle Rock Shop or Garage

Flake runs $4 to $9 per square foot. A 240-square-foot single-car garage in town comes to roughly $960 to $2,160. A 1,200-square-foot pole barn out by Silver Lake lands between $4,800 and $10,800, with rough broom finishes and big crack repair pushing toward the top. We measure, look at the slab, then give you one firm number.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RV bay slab was poured by the previous owner and it is not level. Can flake still go down?

Yes. Flake is the forgiving system. We grind the high ridges, fill gouges and cracks, and the full chip broadcast hides small waves. What it will not fix is a slope that sends water the wrong way. If the bay already drains toward the door, the coated floor will too.

Will a heavy tractor or a parked fifth-wheel hurt the coating?

Rolling weight is not the problem. Sharp steel is. A loader bucket dropped on its edge or a jack stand dragged across the floor can chip any coating. We suggest plywood pads under jack stands and trailer tongue jacks. Tire weight from a truck or RV is well within what this system carries.

How far does your crew actually travel to reach Castle Rock?

From our Vancouver shop, exit 49 is roughly a 50-minute run. We drive it for the estimate, again for grinding and base coat, and once more for topcoat if the job needs a second day. Out toward Toutle add a few more minutes. No travel fee on a normal shop or garage.

Gravel from our lane gets tracked onto everything. Does flake wear faster because of that?

Grit is the reason to coat. On bare concrete it acts like sandpaper and the surface dusts. On a polyaspartic topcoat it mostly sits on top until you sweep. A mat at the walk door and a quick sweep each week keeps the floor looking good for years.

Which flake colors hide mud from the Mount St. Helens backroads best?

Browns and grays. Leggari Dark Mocha, Gravel and Desert Storm all hide dried mud and dust well, and Desert Polymer brindle chips do too. Sample boards ride along to every estimate, and you can lay them right on your slab under your shop lights.
